The construction of the World's Largest Airport Terminal in Dubai has Begun

Dubai announced on Sunday that construction has begun on Al Maktoum International Airport, which the state's ruler says will be the "world's largest" terminal, worth around $35 billion.

According to the French news agency AFP, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, said in a post on the social media app X (formerly Twitter) that "We have stopped passengers at Al Maktoum International Airport." Designs for the new terminal have been approved, and its construction will cost $34.85 billion.

According to the government statement, "After (the terminal) is fully operational, the airport will handle 260 million passengers annually."

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum added that it will have the world's largest airport capacity (in terms of passengers) and will be five times larger than the current Dubai International Airport.

Keep in mind that Dubai International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world.

According to Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and CEO of Emirates Airlines, "The first phase of this project will be completed in 10 years and will be able to transport 150 million passengers annually."
